In the 80's, visited Ireland with my parents on our European Vacation which started in Ireland circled through Europe and ended in Paris.  We flew into Shannon, Republic of Ireland and drove to Belfast, Northern Ireland.  We spent a night in the country side at a Bed and Breakfast.  I still remember the local police in Belfast walking the streets with assault-style guns. We then flew onto to London, United Kingdom.
