In January 2010 visited the islands of Kauai and Oahu with my friend
Jimy. We first visited Kauai, staying at the
Kauai Beach Resort. I took the
Captain Andy Sunset Sail to see the
whales and the sunset. We also drove around the island stopping at
a few waterfalls and beaches.
We next travelled to Oahu, staying
at the
Outrigger Reef on the Beach. We were upgraded to a very nice corner
room with two balconies, one facing the city and one a partial view of
the ocean. The first full day I visited the USS Arizona Memorial,
USS Missouri and the USS Bowfin. The next day I hiked to the top of
Diamond Head. The following day I visited the 'Iolani Palace and the
Honolulu Academy of Arts. The last day we visited the North Shore
and the Polynesian Cultural Center for the Ali'i Luau.
While walking on the beach on the North Shore, a
large wave came in and knocked me down. I was completely soaked
and my phone and camera were damaged beyond repair. My camera's memory chip survived
so all the pictures I had taken were safe.
It was an awesome trip. The people of Hawaii
are very friendly.
